  1. The garden Jesus prayed in was a very high price garden – Jesus had rich benefactor.

  2. Judas knew where to bring soldiers to Jesus because of how often Jesus went to Gethsemane

  3. Jesus noted he was overwhelmed with sorrow – adjectives of pressure.

  4. Jesus fell to the ground similar to one who collapsed – the word “fell” means “a hard crash.”

  5. Jesus sweating blood was Hematidrosis – he was bleeding to death.

  6. You can only know the horror of sin when you see it through the eyes of he who had no sin.

  7. All sin was placed on Christ – past, present and future.

  8. Hebrews 12 – Jesus could only go forward because he repeatedly prayed to see joy

Arrest & 1st Trial - UD

  1. It was a REAL forest Judas led soldiers through

  2. Jerusalem is built on several mountains

  3. There was little illumination at night when Jesus was betrayed – soldiers couldn’t see

  4. Judas greeted Jesus with a long intense embrace

  5. Jesus wasn’t being sarcastic when he called Judas “friend” – which means in the Greek “Comrade, one I love.”

  6. The Gospel of John was written 15-30 years after Matthew , Mark and John were written.

  7. The mob that came to arrest Christ, there’s a good chance you’ll meet some of them in Heaven.

  8. Annas was the THE High Priest – most famous high priest in secular Jewish history.

  9. Jesus was under control of himself the entire time – willingly suffering.

  1. The trial of Jesus was a kangaroo court – 10 illegal things occurred forbidden in Jewish culture.

  2. It was illegal to meet at night for trials

  3. It was illegal to have a trial without a formal charge

  4. Illegal for the prosecution to go first

  5. Illegal for witnesses to not be separated.

  6. Illegal for the high priest to LEAD a trial

  7. Illegal to not provide a defense attorney

  8. Illegal to interrogate the accused.

  9. Illegal to force the accused to testify against themselves.

  10. Illegal for the High Priest to tear his garments

  11. Illegal – once convicted – to wait less than 24hrs for sentencing.

  12. The priests inspected Christ the lamb and found Him PURE and INNOCENT

  13. Jesus declared he was God before his accusers when they questioned.

  14. When you’re blindfolded, you can’t prepare for punches.

  15. Jesus was beaten by guards for 3-4 hours.

The 3rd and 4th Trial - UD

  1. Pilate had his close friends in court killed

  2. Pilate was at the end of his political career.

  3. Tiberius Caesar was dying – he was mad/insane with phobias, killing all he suspected and leaving Pilate in Judea shaking his boots.

  4. Pilate was woken up early in the morning (6:00am) to deal with Jesus

  5. Jews were disrespectful to Pilate over past instances

  6. Pilate hated the Jews

  7. Jesus reached out to Pilate and showed how he cared for Him

The 5th Trial - UD

  1. Pilate sought to free Jesus as much as possible

  2. Jesus was up all night without sleep

  3. Pilate brought out another prisoner (the most evil he could find) that both Romans and Jews hated hoping to get Jesus out.

  4. There was not stopping Jesus going to the Cross

  5. Pilate’s wife told him of a troubling dream at the exact time he tried to free Jesus and gave time for the priests to work the crowd against Christ

  6. Pilate’s wife became a powerful leader in the Early Church

  7. Jesus’s organs were exposed due to the severity of flogging by Romans.

  8. John 19 – Pilate was terrified when Christ wouldn’t defend himself being called a King because Pilate knew.

  9. Jesus’s words to Pilate “You would have no power over him lest it was given from above” were the last personal words given by Christ to any man.

  10. Jesus’s last words to Pilate were Mercy

  1. Simeon of Cyrene -The man who helped Christ bear the cross was African. Many blacks don’t know their rich heritage in the Bible

  2. They brought Jesus to Golgatha – “place of the Skull.”

  3. Jesus refused wine mixed with vinegar since he wanted to experience the FULL pain.

  4. The cross is a picture of human depravity.

  5. Depravity is a leaning

  6. We all would have been one of the people against Christ – one of the crowds hating him or soliders beating him.

  7. Jesus was numbered with transgressors.

  1. Crucifixion was a slow death

  2. Jesus had his legs broken since it made it hard to breathe

  3. Legs can’t hold your body without your bones.

  4. John was the only apostle not afraid to come to the cross

  5. Anger will never overcome fear

  6. None of Jesus’s brothers were entrusted with Mary – although James and Jude became saved later.

  7. Jesus did not entrust his mother to anyone but another believer

  1. At the 9th hour – we’re told Christ died at 3:00pm afternoon.

  2. Jesus quoted Psalm 22 possibly due to Christ feeling the weight of sin – all fear and terror.

  3. Psalm 22 is a great Messianic chapter

  4. When you’re abandoned by God, 5 minutes seems like 5 millennia

  5. The Father had to turn away from Christ in order for sin to be paid.

  6. The Jews thought Elijah might show up when they saw Jesus cry out

  7. It was 3 hours of silence before Jesus cried out “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

The Resurrection - UD

  1. Peter and John ran to the Tomb

  2. The women were the first witnesses to the angels.

  3. Peter didn’t believe but John did

  4. Peter had to go against logic – he was racked with guilt and thus was slow to believe Christ rose

  5. Isaiah 53: Surely he took up our iniquities and carried our sorrows.

  6. The Bible doesn’t tell us what Jesus said to Peter when he met him since it’s NONE of our business

  7. There are things that we bring before the Lord Jesus that are no one’s else’s business but Jesus.

  1. The Bible says we can be united with Christ in his resurrection (Philippians 3)

  2. The condition we must be before getting the Resurrection is that we must be united with Him in His death.

  3. Every other religion on the Earth teaches man has the ability to improve himself.

  4. Only in Christianity teaches that man has a heart bent toward selfishness.

  5. To be a Christian is to say you deserve Death

  6. When someone’s honest with convincing themselves they’re a good person, you find one or two things you’re good at and make that what all societies value.

  7. Count yourselves dead to sin (Romans 6)
