2 Tim. 2:8-20

An emotional subject where at one time people were hopeful, excited, had plans, had trust, had relationships and they blew apart and they become disappointed with Christians, Church and their lives. They have gone from energized to weary, weak, and deflated.

In sermon # 1 it talks about what a true Pastor / Shepherd looks like Biblically.

In sermon # 2 it talks about how to learn from your past pains and how to upgrade your friendships.

  1. Deepest truths in all the New Testament

  2. Great pastors. Do you have true pastors in your life? Matt.9:36

  3. Your pastor should know your name. 2 Tim.3:14

  4. When let down and disappointed you are at a fork in the road: down into the pit or up in passion to serving Jesus and others

  5. A true pastor will show you how to turn the pain into future passion, joy, health, safety and victory

  6. Have to have more humility and wisdom

  7. The pain becomes a strengthening point. e.g. burned by churches but you weren’t innocent

  8. The issue is not what they did wrong, the issue is, “Is there anything I could have done different?”

  9. Search the word, what the Bible requires, before emotionally responding to the group

  10. Ezekiel 34 - True Shepherd

  11. Check out the marriage and the kids of the pastors, because that is who they really are

  12. Who I am in marriage is who I really am.

  13. Longevity

  14. Check out their reputation

  15. Check out the people who follow the pastor and their lives – the fruit

  16. True pastor will ask you how you can turn the pain into loving Jesus and serving others

  17. 20-20-60 rule: 20% serve forward, 20% feel sorry for themselves and 60% have no hope

  18. True pastor hears the true heart of the disappointed person

  19. You become like the leaders you invest your heart in - Ps.23:3

  20. The pain can become greater passion

  21. When you study a book of the Bible, know the back drop of the book

  22. It is easier to forgive someone who wronged you than to forgive someone who wronged your loved one

  24. Always remember it is always about Jesus.

  25. The more I am disappointed, the more I serve Jesus

  26. The favor of God in your life does not mean that everything will go well in your life. James1:2-4

  28. If you hold on to a disappointment for more than a week, it becomes self-pity in your heart

  1. Have true pastors who know your name

  2. True pastors show you how to move forward

  3. Pain without humility stands and blames

  4. When you stand and blame, you detour your life for 10 years

  5. Pain with humility kneels and learns

  6. You battle anger and ask God how you can learn

  7. When you are down there, you need a Shepherd who will show you how to move forward

  8. Daily cleansing – quoting scripture

  9. Success in ministry

  10. Small Groups helps others succeed in ministry

  11. You don’t have to trust someone to serve them

  12. Successful ministry always has any: “I will serve anywhere”.

  14. A true pastor will ask what your passions are to match you with what fits your soul

  15. God wants you to have lasting friendships and teammates

  16. After multiple times of upgrading your friendships, you will find your true friends

  17. 2 Tim 2:22-26 - where you meet your true friends

  18. Deep friendships have trust – teammates

  19. Don’t have anything to do with the stand and blame crowd; they will pull you down

  20. Eph. 4:16 - Speak the truth in love

  21. You cannot be gentle with someone unless you are willing to let them go

  22. When you have friends that love God and love you, you are the richest person on the planet
